Read the article by former CBN governor, Charles Soludo, that's got everyone talking

Former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Charles Soludo, wrote a very long article yesterday titled 'Buhari vs Jonathan, Beyond the elections', where he x-rayed the chances of the two men winning next month's general elections and the challenges that lie ahead.

In the very incisive piece, Soludo berated the present administration of having poor economic plan which he graded "F". He says President Jonathan's economic team is too weak due to its composition of "self-interested and self-conflicted group of traders and businessmen".

Members of the European Union election monitoring team met with the presidential candidate of the APC, Gen. Buhari earlier today, over next month's general election. The members, led by Mr Santiago, said 90 members of their team are expected in Nigeria during the elections.

On November 10th 2014, 16 year old Kilee Brookbank returned to her home in Georgetown, Ohio and perceived a strange odour. To combat the odour, Kilee lit a candle and that was when her life changed forever. The house immediately exploded and she was engulfed in flames that razed off 25% of her skin. The freak explosion burned off her finger tips, hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, and obliterated the skin from her arms, back, legs, face, and stomach with third-degree burns.

Nigerian woman kills lover she met on Badoo. Read the horrible story

The life of a young man, Charles Bankole Orisanya from Akoko in Ondo State, who was working with Halliburton in Rivers State ended sadly and brutally on September 19, 2014 when his 26-year-old girlfriend, Loretta Odikagbo, snuffed life out of him. She was however apprehended almost three months after, precisely December 9, 2014 after a painstaking investigation by the Homicide Section of the Rivers State Police Command.

Boko Haram reportedly captures Monguno village

According to reports, members of Boko Haram sect have captured Monguno village in Borno state after attacking the area very early this morning. They also attempted to attack the state capital, Maiduguri, but was repelled by the Nigerian military. There's a 24-hour curfew there right now.

A female demonstrator (pictured) was killed in clashes with Egyptian police during a protest in central Cairo today January 24th on the eve of the anniversary of the 2011 uprising against Hosni Mubarak. A health ministry spokesman said Shaima al-Sabbagh died of birdshot wounds, which fellow protesters said were fired by police to disperse the march. Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab said al-Sabbagh's death was being investigated and vowed that 'whoever committed a mistake will be punished, whoever he may be.' (UK Daily Mail)

Naira now goes for 208 (215) to a dollar

The naira, on Friday, depreciated against the dollar as it traded at N208 from the N191.50 it sold for on Monday, January 19. (it's about N215 as of today)

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the new rate had made the naira to lose N16.50 within five days. The CBN’s website, however, put the naira against the dollar at N167.50, while the pound sold for N253.20 and the euro stood at N193.89.

Overnight, police in France, Belgium and Germany arrested more than two dozen people suspected of having ties to terrorism.
In Paris, NPR's Eleanor Beardsley reports that police moved in at dawn and arrested about a dozen people, who police said were tied to Saïd and Chérif Kouachi, who attacked the offices of Charlie Hebdo, and Amedy Coulibaly, who attacked a kosher market in eastern Paris.
"These people are said to have been in their entourage," Eleanor told our Newscast unit. "They may have helped them to obtain cars, guns or may have been drivers."
The BBC reports that in the Brussels area, police broke up a terror plot when they arrested 13 suspects.
The arrests followed a standoff last night that left two men dead.

The young man at the center of The Boy Who Came Back from Heaven, Alex Malarkey, said this week that the story was all made up.

The actress, who is part Puerto-Rican, African-American, and German, later clarified her comment. “Yesterday, we were talking about a study that says you’re supposed to shower once or twice every three days. I had an opinion on it that was supposed to be a joke,” she said.

Admittedly, it sounds like a ridiculous recipe for falling in love. But could it actually work? Well, according to research conducted 20 years ago by Arthur Aron, Ph.D, a professor of psychology at Stony Brook University, it did work.
In a new New York Times “Modern Love” essay, University of British Columbia writing professor Mandy Len Catron recalls having heard about the 1997 research of Dr. Aron, who successfully threw 52 sets of cross-sex and 19 sets of all-female strangers together in a lab and caused them to grow significantly closer by way of the equation denoted above.
